Overview
The TREMOR proposal addresses the development and validation of technological aids for patients affected by cerebellar tremor. Tremor is generally known as a diagnostic sign in various diseases, not all of them neurological, including Parkinson Disease (PD), hyperthyroidism, cerebellar lesions, Huntingtonšs Chorea. The technical objectives to be achieved in the framework of the TREMOR Project consist of:
- a sensorized system for recording the kinematical parameters during the execution of natural tremor affected movements of the patient’s upper limbs and neck; the sensorized system will be integrated with a graphical representation of the recorded movements
- a 2 degree-of-freedom joystick capable of damping the vibrations induced by patients hand tremor and of extracting voluntary movements characteristics.
MIRALab’s contribution
MIRALab activities will concentrate on the modeling and visual simulation of upper limbs and the neck part. Miralab can simulate an interactive virtual doctor who analyzes the patientšsmotion and shows him/her the proper movements to be performed.
